More Information

The Anglers Riverfly Monitoring Initiative (ARMI) is a UK wide citizen science project in which volunteers (anglers and non-anglers alike) are trained to carry out regular macroinvertebrate monitoring at registered running water sites to detect and report acute pollution incidents. ARMI compliments the work carried out by relevant statutory UK bodies, i.e., Environment Agency - England, Scottish Environment Protection Agency - Scotland, Natural Resources Wales - Wales, Northern Ireland Environment Agency - Northern Ireland; if a river pollution incident is detected by an ARMI volunteer, details are reported to the relevant statutory body so that further investigation work and response actions can be carried out.
The Riverfly Partnership, hosted by the Freshwater Biological Association, coordinates ARMI nationally and receives funding support in England from the Environment Agency.
