Inspire the Next Generation of Female Scientists—Join the STEM Adventures at SEGA Program!

Your Role:
Engage diverse students in exciting STEM conversations and introduce them to real-world STEM professionals.

Your Impact:
In Tanzania, female participation in STEM fields remains low—only 24% of women in higher education pursue STEM careers (UNESCO). Many students must choose academic tracks early, often limiting their exposure to STEM. To change this, Nurturing Minds and SEGA launched a dynamic STEM extracurricular program to spark curiosity, reinforce classroom concepts, and showcase endless career possibilities in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Be a STEM Role Model and Storyteller:
Volunteers will inspire SEGA students to see themselves as scientists—building confidence, curiosity, and excitement about STEM. Through hands-on activities, experiments, and fieldwork, volunteers help students develop identities as problem-solvers, innovators, and future STEM leaders.

Why Role Models Matter:
Representation matters. Volunteers will build strong, personal connections with students, fostering a sense of belonging and curiosity in STEM. They’ll answer questions, share experiences, and ignite imaginations through stories and mentorship—impacting learning both during and after the program.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver an engaging STEM curriculum with experiments, activities, and fieldwork.
Track and assess student progress to measure learning growth.
Foster positive relationships that promote academic and personal development.
Encourage consistent attendance and participation to ensure program success.
Document outcomes and share reports with SEGA staff.
Celebrate achievements through presentations, science fairs, and student showcases.

What to Expect:
Work with Form 1 students starting their new school year in January, focusing on hands-on STEM education.
Lead fun, interactive experiments in chemistry, biology, physics, and environmental science.
Inspire students with field trips, guest speakers, and a Science Share showcase.
Highlight STEM career paths, leadership, and life skills to build confidence and ambition.

We’re building a 20-person volunteer team to lead the STEM Adventures at SEGA Program on SEGA’s vibrant Morogoro campus. Join us to empower girls, promote STEM literacy, and shape future leaders in science and innovation. Be part of this life-changing experience and help create a sustainable, equitable future for Tanzanian girls in STEM!
