More Information

Become a maker and turn your creative ideas into reality. Designed specifically for teens who are new to making and rapid prototyping, this course will introduce you to the endless possibilities of making from home. We’ll examine the engineering design process — the same process NASA and Apple use to solve problems — and you’ll discover how to turn an idea in your head into a physical project created totally by you. Using Arduino microcontrollers and everyday objects, you’ll learn how you can bring your ideas to life, even when you’re not in high-tech spaces or don’t have access to fancy tools. We’ll discuss Arduino programming, prototyping methods and basic 3D modeling. Family and friends are invited to attend final presentations online and hear more about the learning process directly from participants. This program is offered through a partnership with the McCarty Innovation Learning Lab (MILL), UW’s state-of-the-art makerspace; Housing & Food Services; and UW Youth & Teen Programs.
