Join us for our May 2026 edition of Madison Astronomy on Tap at the Northstreet Taproom!

This month the Astrobiology Science Conference (“AbSciCon”) is being held here in Madison, so we have the opportunity to hear from three astronomers from beyond UW–Madison who are leaders in the study of, and the search for, habitable worlds around other stars! Raymond Pierrehumbert, a Professor of Physics at Oxford University, will talk about the catastrophes that can render Earth-like exoplanets uninhabitable. Jacob Lustig-Yaeger, a scientist at Johns Hopkins University, will talk about how to keep an atmosphere on a rocky planet orbiting close to its host star. Aiden Zelakiewicz, a graduate student at Cornell University, will talk about his work in predicting what habitable (or inhabited) exoplanets will look like to the next generation of space telescopes.

We will have astronomy trivia and plenty of Q&A time to ask our speakers your questions about the Universe and the life it hosts!
