More Information

Because for  your participation, we are now the largest annual one day/one site astronomy outreach event in the US.

The 2025 AFNM will be on Sat. Sept. 20, two days before the fall equinox.   The AFNM will be  between  4th to 7th streets NW or 7th to 9th streets  NW depending on the NPS, the renovation status of the  Mall, and the  renovation status of the  NASM.  Sunset is a 7:09  so we will have 90 minutes more to look at the sky. Saturn rises at 7:13 pm and will be 14 degrees above the E horizon at 8:30. The Moon will not be visible.

Sept. and Oct. have the most clear nights in DC.   There has not been a complexly cloudy day/night or significant rain on Sept. 20 since at least 2009.
