The 2026 Nobel Prize of Physics went to Francis Halzen for his leadership in the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. Straight from the heart of cosmic chaos, born in the blinding fury of supermassive black holes, exploding stars, and violent galactic collisions, comes the “ghost particles” called neutrinos. These elusive cosmic messengers are difficult to detect, but they carry clues from some of the universe’s most extreme places. Come to our next event to learn all about how detectors in deep Antarctic ice and the rocky landscape of the Andes can help us catch these particles with two neutrino physicists from Harvard, Prof. Carlos Argüelles-Delgado and Kiara Carloni!

Each Astronomy on Tap Boston event features FREE, accessible, and engaging presentations by local astronomers about the Universe! Our events also have space trivia games to test your new knowledge! There is also plenty of time to ask questions, interact with presenters, and chat with other scientists who stick around for a beer. Our events are organized by graduate student volunteers at Harvard, MIT, BU, Tufts, and other local universities.
