Astronomy on Tap Boston: Radio Astronomy

Radio is everywhere in your day — FM on the drive in, AirPods on your phone, Google Maps guiding you, the microwave reheating dinner. Now imagine using those same invisible waves to unveil cosmic mysteries, from the birth of planets to the shadows of supermassive black holes. Grab a drink and join us at Aeronaut Brewery on January 19 (6–8 pm) for an interstellar journey through the history and cutting-edge frontiers of radio astronomy, with engaging talks on the discovery of pulsars (rapidly spinning neutron stars), the first black hole images, the swirling disks of material that form newborn planets, and the mysterious fast radio bursts that still baffle astronomers!
