This month’s speaker is Ben Shafransky. Ben is a Lowell Discovery Telescope Operator at Lowell Observatory. Ben will be talking about the history of early Astrophotography. Early photographic scientists looked up shortly after the invention of the photograph. Experiments to capture the sky yielded varying results until the birth of astrophotography was realized in 1840. The techniques and tools used to do this improved vastly over the next century until the point where a faint dwarf planet could eventually be found. Join Ben on this journey of exploration of firsts, from the very first photograph to the first images of Pluto.
