Have you ever wondered what happens to our solar system after the Sun dies? Ever asked yourself if the planets survive, get disrupted, or are eaten alive? For stars like our Sun, white dwarf stars are the last stage of evolution. Join us as Dr. Susan Mullally discusses how we are using such white dwarf stars to gather evidence about what will happen to our own solar system after the Sun dies. Planets have left behind indirect evidence that they survive, and with the James Webb Space Telescope we hope to eventually take a picture of these planets that survived their star’s death.
