Come check out Astronomy on Tap Triangle, our North Carolina chapter of short and engaging talks about astronomy over beer. You will find us in the taproom of Durty Bull Brewing Company in Durham, NC from 7-8:30 PM on Wednesday, September 3rd!
The NSF-DOE Vera C. Rubin Observatory is poised to revolutionize astronomy in the coming decade. Killer asteroids inside our solar system, icy objects on the outskirts beyond the orbits of Neptune and Pluto, exploding stars, distant galaxies – none of them can escape the powerful Legacy Survey of Space and Time, which will scan the entire visible sky every three nights. The first look images from this data-collecting machine were recently released. Join us as Dr. Arun Jayaraman talks about several subsystems that had to come together for the first time ever to make this successful, and what more lies ahead.
Don’t forget to get there on time for a quick round of astronomy trivia and special prizes!
There is always lots of time to ask questions and interact with the presenters and other scientists who inevitably stick around for the beer. We can’t wait to see you there!
