BDBSAcollect
This project provides field staff with a simple tool for the collection of opportunistic sightings in the field, that can then be easily ingested into BDBSA (the authoritative Biological DataBases of South Australia). Records approved for release will be uploaded from BDBSA to ALA once processed.
More Information
This tool aims to provide a simple BDBSA friendly option for recording sighting records of flora and fauna across South Australia. Only records with verified species identification are encouraged. It requires minimum effort and training and has a central data management approach. The BioCollect environment allows it to be used by non-government personnel such as consultants and naturalists. The data is only visible to approved members. This project presents us with a number of opportunities:
- Efficiencies to be made in record capture, consistency and processing
- Expert knowledge is captured contemporaneously into a corporate (shared) dataset
- Staff will be willing to contribute more often when they see the ease of use and fast feedback time
- Data is easily retrievable
-Regular upload into BDBSA
