BurdyGurdy: Local Bird Identification Training for eBirders

BurdyGurdy.com is an online bird identification training app designed to improve the accuracy of citizen science observations. Unlike general bird guides, BurdyGurdy uses a real-time connection to eBird’s API to identify which birds have been recently spotted in a user’s specific geographic region. An adaptive algorithm guides the user to mastery by giving the most emphasis on species they struggle with. The app tracks progress and uses songs and photos from multiiple sources so you don’t just learn the picture, you learn the bird.

When you answer correctly, the answer reveal screen presents the user with all the data they would expect from a quality, multi-media bird atlas, and more, including: recent sightings of the bird which can be viewed on an interactive map, a selection of recording of the bird, and photos of related species with quick links to their detailed info pages.
