Challenger 7 memorial park

Our scheduled outreach of Friday July 18, 8-11PM for the precinct 2 parks of Houston will be spectacular. Michael, Khady and I have combined it with the astronomy night of the United Space School. USS is the major offering of the Foundation for International Space Education founded by former JSC director George Abbey (I am on the board, faculty and gofor). We will have 44 young adults (16-19) from 22 countries there with their teachers and chaperons (about 70+ people in all) on top of the regular attendance at this park outreach (typically 30).  The Challenger 7 memorial park (2301 W Nasa Rd, Webster, TX 77598) with its vast space, 12 big tables and huge parking lot is perfect for this event. With your participation, we can make this event a major one in our area and give the USS kids the star party of their life. You do not have to be an expert or even own a scope, we’ll have plenty of these. A big part of this exercise is wondering what is out there. We call it science, we ALL qualify! Please install a planetarium on your cell phone or tablet, that is all it takes. My favorite is "Stellarium" (21) Stellarium - YouTube and it is absolutely free with no commercials! Even if the weather is imperfect, we will have flyers, old mags (S&Ts, Science, New Scientist), microscopes and laptops clips as we always do. The park has exceptionally pushed their closing time to 11PM. As usual, only a hurricane will make me cancel.
