More Information
In this 1-day workshop, middle and high school educators will learn a strategy to teach genetics and engineering by implementing the ancestry, traits, and behaivors of the chicken: Chickenology. These strategies will be taught by teacher leaders from GrowNextGen based on their own experiences in the classroom.
Educators in the workshop will learn;
- Science careers that are important to provide quality protein to consumers
- How environments and their resources impact populations and biological fitness
- How to explore evolutionary mechanisms using poultry science
- New lessons that extend middle school life science content to the high school level
*Cells
*Heredity
*Evolution
*Diversity and interdependence of life
And will enage deeper science learning with;
- Career Videos
- Virtual Feild Trips
- E-Learning Modules
- Games and Simulations
- Project-Based Engineering Challenges
Leave with classroom supplies including; prepared slides, foldscopes aka student microscopes, hygrometer/thermometer, plus materials for the games and engineering challenges. (total value of $350)
