More Information

The City Nature Challenge (CNC) is the world’s largest bioblitz. It started out in 2016 as a annual competition between San Francisco and Los Angeles to see which city could document the most urban wildlife. It has grown spectacularly since then. Every year, beginning in October, the CNC Global Organizing Team solicits individuals to become “Organizers” who create iNaturalist projects like this one for the following year. If a project is approved and chosen, it becomes an “official” project and is added to a list of other approved projects from around the world. Last year, there were 669 cities in 62 countries on 6 continents participating! There are projected to be over 1000 projects created in 2026. The City Nature Challenge: Northwest Louisiana is the first CNC in North Louisiana, It is an “umbrella” project containing 12 individual “collection” projects.
