Explore the mile-long, wave-like lava tube cave in Flagstaff, Arizona. Formed roughly 700,000 years ago by molten rock, the cave presents a chance to unearth nature’s creativity and learn firsthand how volcanic heat causes rock to partially liquefy and drip. Transportation included; bring a sack lunch or enjoy an independent lunch in Flagstaff. Rating: moderate. Distance: 1 mile. Elevation: 3ft. Please note that this is an undeveloped cave and you will need at least two sources of light. The terrain consists of large rocks that can be wet, and at times you may need to scoot or use your hands to traverse sections safely. Meet at bus in Chandler Nature Center bus loop
