Join us for an exciting afternoon of hands-on STEM learning and exploration for all ages. Registration is not required but will help us with planning. This event is free and open to all! Feel free to drop in anytime between 1:00 - 4:00 PM to visit with exhibitors from around the region including:
Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection - Watershed Restoration Division
Learn about our local waterways, rivers, lakes, and streams and how our actions on land directly impact the quality of our water. Discover why stream critters are so important, what bugs are in our local streams, and how they act as indicators of water quality. Visitors will also be able to participate in a hands-on exhibit with live stream bugs! 
UMD Cyber-Physical Systems Engineering at Universities at Shady Grove
Demonstrations on embedded systems, the internet of things, robotic hands that you can play “rock, paper, scissors” with, transforming robot cars, and more.
NIH: National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences
Translational Science in Action activities use real-world examples and roleplaying to teach visitors about translational science principles, such as teamwork, creativity and efficiency.
Engineering for Montgomery County
Experience STEM kits centered around coding and engineering, featuring LEGOs, drones, and VR equipment for an immersive, hands-on learning experience.
Personal Genetics Education & Dialogue (PGED)
Dive into exciting new topics and information about emerging genetics issues

Discover the science/chemistry behind plastic recycling
UMD at USG CPSE Summer Program, Group: SignScribe
Meet the award-winning team from UMD’s summer engineering program at USG. Their project, SIgnScribe, is a robotic hand which can process speech live and output the equivalent movements in sign language & use a GUI to display the hand signing and a speech transcript. Visitors can test the hand by speaking into the microphone and seeing its output with the hand and the GUI.
