What to Expect
Dayton Works brings together employers, educators, workforce organizations, and students for a collaborative event designed to strengthen the region’s talent pipeline. The day features three interactive components that encourage learning, relationship-building, and career exploration.
Panel Discussion:
The event kicks off with a moderated discussion featuring business leaders, educators, and workforce experts exploring today’s workforce challenges and opportunities. Topics will focus on developing tomorrow’s talent, strengthening partnerships between education and industry, and preparing students for successful careers. Attendees are encouraged to listen, engage, and participate in the audience Q&A.
Speed Networking:
Following the panel discussion, employers and education partners will participate in a structured networking session designed to foster meaningful conversations. School representatives-including high schools, colleges, universities, career centers, and workforce organizations-will remain seated while employers rotate every 10 minutes. This format encourages focused discussions about career pathways, internship and apprenticeship opportunities, workforce needs, and future partnerships.
Job & Career Fair (open to the public/students):
The afternoon concludes with an open-format Job & Career Fair, welcoming high school students and job seekers to connect directly with employers, colleges, universities, training providers, and community organizations. Attendees can explore career opportunities, learn about educational and training programs, discover internships and entry-level positions, and build valuable connections that support their future career goals.
For Students & Job Seekers:
Connect with local employers, colleges, universities, and workforce organizations to explore internships, apprenticeships, part-time and full-time employment, and career pathways. Learn about a variety of industries, discover education and training opportunities, ask questions, and build connections that can help shape your future.
For Employers:
Engage with a diverse talent pipeline that includes high school students, college students, recent graduates, and experienced job seekers. Showcase your organization, promote career opportunities, strengthen your employer brand, and build meaningful relationships with educators and workforce partners to support future talent development.
