More Information

This science-focused program introduces students to Arizona’s native rattlesnakes through observation, evidence, and critical thinking. Using real-world examples from field research and wildlife work across Arizona, students learn how scientists separate facts from myths and why misconceptions about animals persist. The program explores basic biology, behavior, and ecology of rattlesnakes, and how our own minds may play tricks on us where snakes are involved. Students are encouraged to ask questions, make observations, and think like scientists as they examine how the environment, adaptation, and survival shape wildlife behavior. Practical outdoor safety is woven throughout the presentation, including how to identify rattlesnake habitat, what to do if a snake is encountered, and why understanding animal behavior leads to safer choices. These lessons reinforce applied science and problem-solving skills that students can use in real-life situations. Live animals are part of the presentation. Free | No registration required
