Duvall Public Stargaze at Big Rock Park

This public Stargaze event is authorized by the City of Duvall Parks & Recreation Department.  The event is free of charge and located at Field #2 of the Big Rock Ball Fields in Duvall (28460 NE Big Rock Road).
 
Experienced astronomer volunteers from the Seattle Astronomical Society (SAS) bring their telescopes to share with the public.  Everyone is welcome, including families with children.  Feel free to bring your own telescope!
 
7:00pm - 8:00pm - Setup - Bring your own telescope and Seattle Astronomical Society members can help you out and answer your questions.

8:00pm - 1:00am - Stargazing - Highlights to include open star clusters, globular clusters, double stars, nebula, galaxies, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus.

Please practice good dark sky etiquette when attending this event. Park in the lower lot near the street.  If that lot is full please park in the lot as far from the middle field as you can and turn off your headlights when driving in the parking lot after dark (use your parking lights only).  Bring red flashlights only, or cover your flashlight with red light filter film or a red translucent plastic.  It can take 20-40 minutes for night vision to be restored if a bright white light illuminates the telescope field.

For those setting up telescopes, the field lights will remain on for setup after the sporting events. Field lights will turn off at 7:45pm.  Field #2 (the middle field) will be used for public stargazing.  Field #1 (the NE field farthest from the road) is reserved for astrophotographers to set up their equipment to avoid confusion as to which telescopes are available for visual stargazing. 

Check the SAS website (www.seattleastro.org) for star gazing event status.  If weather conditions force cancellation or postponement of an event, an update will be posted no later than 12:00pm the day of the event.

Astrophotographers can set up on Field #1 (the farthest field from the street) separate from the visual stargazing on Field #2 (the middle field).  This field (and the restrooms) willl be open until dawn for astrophotography.

Please note that no food or drink are allowed on the fields.
