More Information

The Dragon Bravo Fire exploded into public awareness in mid-July as it consumed historic structures on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. But that was only the beginning. As weather conditions deteriorated, the fire underwent explosive growth, ultimately becoming one of the largest wildfires in Arizona history. This presentation explores the extreme fire weather that fueled the blaze–and how modern meteorological science and technology are helping us detect, forecast, and combat these increasingly destructive wildfires. Hybrid Event: Webinar requires registration, in-person does not require a reservation.       Part of Flagstaff Festival of Science, a free annual 10-day event wholly designed to promote awareness and enthusiasm for science in and about northern Arizona and beyond, and is fondly known as the Best 10 Days of the Year. Established in 1990, it is the longest, continuously running, entirely free science festival in the world.
