Fossilfinder

The Fossilfinder App is a Citizen Science project designed to engage both amateur fossil hunters and professional scientists in documenting and sharing fossil discoveries throughout Austria and beyond. This innovative tool allows users to contribute to the expanding network of data on Earth’s history, helping to map out valuable fossil findings and complete the scientific record of the past.

Through the Fossilfinder App, developed by the SPOTTERON Citizen Science Platform, users can share their fossil discoveries - whether they are animal or plant fossils, dinosaur remains, insect traces, or other interesting fossil evidence. They can also record the location of their findings on an interactive map, including places like museums, universities, or nature parks. Participants can add detailed information, including the age of the fossil and other relevant details, to enrich the global database and facilitate further research.
