Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Creatures of the Night Hike

Join Ranger Kevin for an evening of fun and adventure as we set off in search of desert wildlife. This roughly three-mile hike along the Spur Cross and Dragonfly Loop trails will take us through some lush desert habitat as well as the riparian habitat along Cave Creek. We’ll be on the lookout for all kinds of evening-active critters, from skunks to scorpions, spiders, snakes, fox, coyote, deer, owls and more! The trail is rated easy-moderate with some rocky, uneven surfaces and some elevation change. There is no drinking water available within Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area, so please bring plenty of water and wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Bring flashlights; black UV lights are optional. MEETING LOCATION: Spur Cross Trailhead, which can be found past the entry station, near the Portapotties and picnic tables.
