More Information

Learn all about the Sonoran Desert ecosystem during this guided hike with Ranger Eric. Join Ranger Eric for a 5.5-mile hike of the southern part of the San Tan Trail loop and Hedgehog Trail, which will give scenic views of the Malpais Hills cliffs at the southern part of the park. This trail loop is easy to moderate grade with rocky and uneven terrain. Along the way, we will learn about the flora, fauna, and ecology of the Sonoran Desert. Please dress in layers, wear protective clothing and/or sunscreen, wear sturdy footwear, and carry ample water (at least 3 liters recommended) and snacks for yourself. The hike takes about 4 hours to complete. Restrooms are located at the Nature Center. MEETING LOCATION: The main trailhead kiosk across from the Nature Center; see map here: https://www.maricopacountyparks.net/assets/1/6/san-tan-8x1120241.pdf Limit 15 participants.
