Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Discovery Station – Desert Hiking Safety

Stop by the nature center to learn how to safely hike in the desert during the summer months. Ranger Derik Will have a table set up in the nature center with what a ranger would carry for day of hiking. Topics covered at the table with be planning, what gear to bring, what food to eat, basic map reading, training for hikes, and when to turn back. It gets hot in the summer so please take the time to stay safe while you explore. Also at the table are packing lists and park maps that you can take home with you.
