More Information
Spend the afternoon hiking through the desert with Ranger Jacque and learn about the many medicinal and edible plants that can be found in your own backyard. Participants will hike for 3 miles through rolling hills and sandy washes on the North Loop trail. The trail is rated as easy and only has a few spots that could be described as rocky. Ranger Jacque will talk about the native edible plants as well as medicinal plants that are found along the trail. All plants are subject to seasonal changes so we cannot determine what plants will be fruiting. The trailhead is a couple miles past the ranger station and has no bathroom or water fountain so please make sure to plan ahead and allow time to arrive at the trailhead. For those participating in the 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge (Nov. 1-Feb. 8), this hike is a great way to work towards your goal! For more information about the challenge, visit https://www.maricopacountyparks.net/things-to-do/activity/100-miles-in-100-days-challenge/. MEETING LOCATION: North Loop Trailhead Limit 15 participants. To register, please call the Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 3 with your name, phone number and number of people attending.
