This is a challenging fitness hike of approximately 8.8 miles and 202 ft. Elevation gain, utilizing the Hedgehog, San Tan, and Malpais Trails. This popular loop trail includes long distances in sandy washes (approximately 2 miles of deep sand) and navigating rolling hills and rocky sections, offering incredible views below the spectacular cliffs of the Malpais Hills. Bring plenty of water (at least 3 liters recommended), along with electrolytes, snacks and layered clothing. Hiking boots and hiking poles are strongly encouraged for this distance and terrain. This is a fantastic opportunity to log significant miles toward the 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge!
