Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Homeschool Happenings – Amazing Rocks!

Join Ranger Nikki for a kid-friendly geology lesson and find out why rocks and minerals are so amazing! Click program title for more details. Ranger Nikki will lead you on a learning adventure that rocks! We’ll talk about the rock cycle, rock types, how rocks and minerals are formed and ways to identify them. You will also see cool mineral specimens and discover how we use rocks and minerals in everyday life. This is an indoor classroom program with discussion and hands-on activities. We will spend approximately 10-15 minutes outdoors on paths near the Nature Center. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring snacks, water and a hat. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center. MEETING LOCATION: Nature Center Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Estrella Nature Center at (602) 506-2930 ext. 6 with the adult’s name, phone number and number of students attending. A participating student is considered age 5 and up. Please report number of younger siblings attending for set-up purposes. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list. Registration for this program will close on 12/3/24.
