Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Paws in the Parks!

Get those tails on the trails as the sun sets on this fun and pet-friendly evening hike led by Ranger Jacque! Dogs and their humans are welcome! Join Ranger Jacque on a fun adventure with your fur baby as we meet new friends (both two-legged and four!) and explore the park! This scenic hike traverses the North Trail, making a 3 mile loop. The route is beautiful, featuring a mostly level gravel trail with only 138 feet of gradual elevation change.   Along the way, we’ll share tips for hiking with dogs, including dog-friendly trails, where to go in the summer, what to do about rattlesnakes, trail “petiquette,” and what practical gear you really need versus what’s just nice to have.   Should my dog wear booties? Do I need a dog first aid kit? Are there easier ways to manage poop?   Come find out! Remember to bring: 6-foot leash, doggie bags, plenty of water for both you and your pet; sturdy, close-toed shoes, hat and sunscreen for you; personal light for after dusk. Note- restrooms are located on the road before or after the trailhead, not directly at the trailhead. The trailhead is located a 10 minute drive from the contact station.
