Birds are an ever-present part of our lives. Whether we’re outdoors or simply gazing out the window, they capture our attention, bringing joy and amusement with their lively presence. But have you ever wondered how birds live and thrive in the challenging environment of the Sonoran Desert? If so, this class is for you! Arizona is home to over 300 bird species, with nearly 190 documented in the McDowell Sonoran Preserve alone. In this class, you’ll learn about our local birds, their unique habitats, and what they eat—straight from an expert in the field. You’ll also get tips on how to use binoculars to spot these incredible birds and discover ways you can help support them in our ever-warming climate. Join Rick Pearce, McDowell Sonoran Conservancy Legacy Steward, for an immersive exploration of our local birds. Rick is an avid birder with years of experience leading bird walks for the Conservancy, along with scientific surveys and bird counts in partnership with the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Audubon.
