More Information

Welcome to the return of Middle School Camp! This year’s program will partner with Horse Hands and focus on horsemanship, nature conservation and leadership development. Campers will spend each morning working closely with Equine Keepers to help care for our horses at the Zoo, as well as learning how to groom, saddle and ride by the end of the week! Then, campers will spend the afternoon learning about nature conservation, teamwork and how to be a leader and advocate for the natural world. Each session is the equivalent of a Horse Hands Level. We will be offering two sessions for Level 1 and Level 2 Horse Hands. For Level 2, you must have completed Level 1 (either with Horse Hands or in Camp) before you attend that session. Middle School Campers can also sign up for multiple weeks! With each level program, there will be new activities, animals and skills to explore!   Grades 7 - 8 June 9 - 13   Summer Camp Zoo 2025 Have you ever wanted to work at a zoo? A wide variety of people and skills are needed to care for the animals’ wellbeing and work even goes beyond Zoo grounds to conservation projects around the world. Through games, time in nature, science experiments, and up-close animal encounters, campers will get to experience what it’s like to work at the Phoenix Zoo and how they too can make a difference for the natural world! Due to high temperatures in the summer, at least half of the camp day is spent indoors, with opportunities to expand indoor time as temperatures rise.
