PRE-FESTIVAL EVENT: International Top Spinning Day – Spin Tops Wherever You are in the World!

SPIN TOPS TODAY & CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL TOP SPINNING DAY because the EARTH IS A TOP! It’s a free WORLD-wide event: in school, at home, at work (on break): WHEREVER you are this day.

WHY? To recognize & celebrate the scientific fact that the Earth is a Spinning Top + it’s a combo of fun & learning: science, math, fine motor skills, organization, challenges, observations skills. Every culture around the world spins tops.

HOW TO TAKE PART: Each time you start a top spinning, it counts as a spin! Set up lots of tops for everyone to spin. Small trays, lunch trays or paper plates work for a place to spin. Keep track of the number of each start of a spinning top. Then email us the total spins of your group, your city, how many participants, ages, comments, and photos, too, please: thetopmuseum@hotmail.com

OFFICIAL! This activity has been recommended by the National Science Foundation discussed on National Public Radio, written about in Family Fun Magazine! It even appeared on TV in Kansas! –This event was founded by the Top Museum director 26 years ago in Wisconsin! There will be free top spinning in front of the Top Museum from noon-6pm this day, but spinning counts for the entire 24 hours of Oct.14, wherever you are in the world today!
