Reid Park Zoo: Watermelon Wednesdays

Every Wednesday in July, Reid Park Zoo will be providing special enrichment that are all centered around the classic pink and green summer treat, watermelon! Enjoy seeing the giraffe’s lick up pulverized watermelons in popsicles, meerkats run through frozen melon tunnels, and elephants smash watermelons whole. In addition to providing fun hydration and exercise, these sweet treats encourage the animals to use natural skills and behaviors such as foraging and problem solving. July 30: 8:30 a.m. – elephant 9 a.m. – otter 9:30 a.m. – grizzly 10 a.m. – ring-tailed lemur/duiker 11 a.m. – leopard tortoises
