More Information

Observe flocks of Sandhill cranes landing for the evening in the Gallagher Marsh. Cranes are best viewed in the evening, as the sun sets.

Guests should register in the logbook and pick up a map (green Sandhill brochure) at the kiosk near the entrance gate of the Sandhill Wildlife Area. Follow the 14-mile one-way Trumpeter Trail auto tour to the pit toilet parking area near Gallagher Marsh and then take the hiking trail marked with black hiking signs. Cross the bridge to the observation tower that overlooks Sandhill’s largest marsh where you will be able to observe flocks of Sandhill cranes.
