Professional guide Homer Hansen will focus on characteristics, behaviors, and other clues for the identification of the flycatchers of SE Arizona. This field trip will visit many habitats to study these birds in the wild and will be useful for both the expert and beginner alike. It will start in the lowlands seeking kingbirds, Myiarchus flycatchers and Northern Beardless-Tyrannulet plus Lucy’s Warbler and early warbler migrants. Then move up into the mountains looking for pewees, phoebes, Sulphur-bellied Flycatcher, and those tricky Empidonax species. Homer will be running a grassland bird workshop at Cochise College after this trip at 4.30, as part of the free programs.
