More Information

Many students—and teachers—feel trapped by the standard algorithm, often relying on “rules” that feel disconnected from actual number sense. While we know rote procedures aren’t always the most developmentally appropriate way to build fluency, it can be hard to know what to do instead. This session is designed to bridge that gap. We will explore a standards-aligned progression of subtraction strategies that grow with the student, from single-digit whole numbers to multi-digit operations, decimals, and fractions. Speakers: Nancy Casagrande and Wendy Stove Time: 8:30am-12:30pm Location: In-Person ONLY in Gilbert, Arizona at Chaparral Elementary School 3380 E Frye Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85297 Earn: Up to 6 hours of professional development credit for recertification.
