More Information
Patagonia Lake is one of the best places in all of Arizona to go birding and offers a good selection of waterfowl, raptors, and songbirds. We’ll start on the “Birding Trail” on the east end of the lake and walk along the Sonoita Creek for around a mile. After walking the trail for a while we will check out some other areas around the campground and lake, and end with a steep walk down to the dam/spillway area to look for loons, gulls, and mergansers. Be sure to bring some food, water, and snacks if you’d like since we’ll be there for about 4 ½ hours. Limited to 10 participants. Leader: Luke Safford $35/member, $50/non-member Trip Difficulty: Medium to Hard. The “Birding Trail” at the beginning will be about 2 miles of walking on a nice trail with one steep incline with stairs. The hard part would be the optional walking to the dam and spillway area at the end of the trip.
Ticket Required: No
