Tucson Bird Alliance: The Marana Loop with Luke Safford

We’ll meet in Marana at 7:30am and then head out to a number of birding hotspots in the area including the Wastewater Reclamation Facility (Stingray Drive), Hardin Road, Arizona Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, and a few other locations to be determined by the leader. The agricultural landscape can be great in the winter for Horned Lark, Loggerhead Shrike, Northern Harrier, and Yellow-headed Blackbirds. We’ll definitely look for Burrowing Owls as well, this being the best spot for them in Southeast Arizona. Another raptor that we have a strong possibility of seeing is Ferruginous Hawk.
