Free- MUST RSVP Let the birds come to you! Bring your favorite camp chair, binoculars, a little refreshment, and just enjoy birding as the time slips by. You will only have to walk a short distance on the handicapped accessible Canopy Trail to a spot where feeders bring the birds up close. A knowledgeable guide will help identify species. The area is open for birding at any time but the guide will only be available during these hours. Sponsored by Jay’s Bird Barn. Cost: Free Rating: 1 Meal: None Location: Meet at the Canopy Trail on Owl Road Transportation: Self-Drive Trip Guide: The Lookout Staff The Lookout specializes in bringing wild birds to your backyard. They sell quality birdseed blends, bird feeders, bird houses, hummingbird and oriole feeders and other bird feed products like suet, quail blocks, and seed cakes. They also carry a wide selection of Swarovski and Vortex binoculars, spotting scopes, tripods and optics accessories. The Lookout staff will be leading a variety of trips and workshops, and will also be present as a vendor selling an assortment of bird-related merchandise. In 2024, join us as we explore the theme of migration and its impact on riparian areas in our environment. Our keynote speaker, Richard Crossley, will lead discussions, and the featured bird for the year is the common black hawk. The Free Family Nature Festival at the Verde Valley Birding & Nature Festival will be in the lagoon area on Saturday, April 27th from 9am to 3pm. There will be armchair birding and guided bird walks all across the Verde Valley from April 25th - 28th that you do need to register for.
