More Information
The Waterbug Census trains citizen scientists to identify macroinvertebrates and monitor their local waterway. Macroinvertebrate monitoring occurs in autumn and spring at designated sites across Melbourne. This data is collected using the Agreed Level Taxonomy (ALT) method to ensure data quality and to maintain consistency across sites. Information is included in Melbourne Water data sets and contributes to ongoing waterway management.
Other Melbourne Water Waterwatch programs you can get involved with Melbourne include water quality monitoring, Frog Census and Platypus Census. Visit our website for more details: https://www.melbournewater.com.au/waterbugcensus.
