More Information
Many bees rely on only a few species of flowers (sometimes just one) for the nectar and pollen they need to survive, and many plants rely on only a few species of bees (sometimes just one) to pollinate their flowers. Maintaining healthy, diverse ecosystems requires protecting these bee/flower relationships. But first, we need to know what they are. Bumblebees are a large and important group of bees, but little is known about their floral preferences. The Ask A Bumblebee project aims to recruit citizen scientists to conduct surveys to help fill this knowledge gap.
