The Astronomical Society of Long Island’s Ed Anderson will discuss the use of filters to enhance our viewing experience of the Moon, Planets, Nebule, and other deep-sky objects. We will talk about light pollution and what filters can and can not do to help your observing experience.
We will be discussing the use of filters for visual astronomy. We will not be touching directly on astrophotography although some of what we will discuss would apply to AP.
The key thing to understand is that filters always take away light, they never add it. They don’t make your target brighter, they may try to make things around it dimmer.
Telescope observing afterward, weather permitting.
