International Observe the Moon Night
Saturday, October 21, from 6 to 8 pm
FREE EVENT
International Observe the Moon Night is a worldwide celebration of lunar science and exploration and occurs in early fall when the Moon is around first quarter.

Join us for hands-on activities, exhibit explorations, Moon observation, themed story time and more!

Activities for the evening include:
• View the Moon and other celestial objects from our museum park, with telescopes and expertise provided by Cape Fear Astronomical Society.
• Experience interactive stories in our Stellar Story Corner, featuring NHC Librarian Ms. Jamie.
• Read famous poems inspired by the Moon and create your own Moon poem to share on our poetry wall.
• Check out some of the interesting names given to the Moon’s dark features, then make your own memorable Moon map with names of your choosing.
• Take part in a LEGO lunar rover challenge, using our newest LEGO SPIKE robots.
• Color your own space helmet and pose for pictures with your “astronaut crew”.

And make sure to check out Space Place, our interactive exhibit inspired by and modeled after the International Space Station! This FREE EVENT is presented by: Piedmont Natural Gas.
