Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Desert 101 Hike

Join Ranger Jacque on a hike through the Estrella Foothills and learn about the many plants and animals that call the desert home. The hike will cover 2.4 miles and gain 250 ft of elevation. The trail is rated as moderate and you can expect a few small inclines and some areas of rocky/ sandy trail. Please plan to use restrooms and fill up water at the fountains located at the nature center as you enter the park, as none are available at the trailhead. Wear sturdy close-toed shoes, and if you have mobility challenges, hiking poles are encouraged. For those of you participating in the 100 Miles in 100 Days Challenge, this is a great way to work towards your goal! The challenge runs from Nov.1-Feb. 8.
