Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Desert 101 Hike

Spend the morning hiking through a canyon with Ranger Derik while you learn about the many animals and plants that call the desert home. The hike will cover 2 miles on easy, gradually inclining trail. The first half is paved and the second half is rocky and sandy in places. Hikers will learn about the plants animals and native peoples the have called and still call the park home. Hikers should bring at least a liter of water with them and are strongly encouraged to come to the hike already hydrated. Water and bathrooms are located at the trailhead. PLEASE NOTE: Outdoor summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events.
