Spend the morning hiking through a canyon with Ranger Derik while you learn about the many animals and plants that call the desert home. The hike will cover 2 miles on easy, gradually inclining trail. The first half is paved and the second half is rocky and sandy in places. Hikers will learn about the plants animals and native peoples the have called and still call the park home. Hikers should bring at least a liter of water with them and are strongly encouraged to come to the hike already hydrated. Water and bathrooms are located at the trailhead. PLEASE NOTE: Outdoor summer programs may be canceled on short notice due to severe weather, including extreme heat events. The Maricopa County Parks website (www.maricopa.gov/parks) is the most accurate resource for verifying the program’s current status. Please check the program listing online or call the Nature Center before coming to the park.
