Join Ranger Derik on a hike along the Agua Fria River and learn about the many native plants found in the Sonoran Desert and their uses. This hike will cover 3.5 miles on rocky trail and wind along the Agua Fria River gaining 100 feet of elevation of the length of the trail. 1-2 liters of water and hiking boots are recommended for this hike. If you have mobility or balance issues hiking poles or a walking stick can come in handy as much of the trail is uneven. Please check the weather prior to the hike and plan accordingly light weight loose fitting clothing is encouraged as well as a hat and sunscreen. Bathrooms can be found at the trailhead however there is no water available at the trailhead. MEETING LOCATION: Contact Station parking lot next to the Bald Eagle Trailhead. Follow West Table Mesa Road. Limit 25 participants. To register, please email Ranger Derik at Derik.Rodgers@maricopa.gov with program title and date, your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please email back ASAP so those on the waiting list may be contacted. Registration for this program will close on 4/28/25.
