More Information
Look for scorpions and nocturnal animals during this guided hike with Ranger Eric. Join Ranger Eric for a guided night hike this Friday the 13th to look for nocturnal creepy crawlies including scorpions! Our likelihood of seeing scorpions depends on the how cold it is, but we still have a chance at seeing them, as well as mammals and owls. We will hike about 0.5-mile on an easy grade portion of Overton Trail, with occasionally rocky or uneven ground. Please pre-hydrate and have electrolytes before the walk, carry ample water, wear sturdy closed-toed footwear, and bring your own flashlights or headlamps. The ranger will have a blacklight to look for scorpions, which glow under the UV light. Restrooms are available at the Go John Trailhead parking. MEETING LOCATION: Go John Trailhead.
