Look for desert and migratory birds around the lake with Ranger Eric! Learn about birds of Sonoran Desert and migrant water birds on this walk with Ranger Eric. We will first meet at the Wild Burro Day Use Area, then caravan in our respective vehicles a short distance up Desert Tortoise Rd. or Two Cow Rd. where we can scan the lake for water birds with a scope and binoculars. We may see ducks, loons, grebes, and gulls out on the lake. As time allows and if we are wanting to get different light and angles on rarer birds on the lake, we may drive over to other vantage points around the lake. If time and interest allows for a short hike, we can go on the nearby Wild Burro Trail to look for desert bird species for about 0.5-1 mile, which is easy to moderate, but slightly rocky or uneven in places. Please dress in layers, wear protective footwear and sun protection, and carry ample water and snacks for yourself. The ranger will have a scope for the group to look through, but if you have your own binoculars, please bring them. MEETING LOCATION: Wild Burro Day Use Area off Desert Tortoise Rd. See park map here (see both sides): https://www.maricopacountyparks.net/assets/1/6/lake-pleasant-8x113.pdf Limit 10 participants.
