Take a night hike through the park with Ranger Derik and hunt for scorpions and other nocturnal creatures. This hike is rated moderate and will take you through the rolling hills of the McDowells for 4.5 miles and 300 ft of elevation gain. The terrain is rocky and uneven in areas with some portions that are smooth and level. This will be a longer hike at night, so it is strongly encouraged that you bring 2-3 liters of water and bring a flashlight with a full charge or extra batteries. If you have blacklights feel free to bring them along. Wear closed-toe shoes. There are bathrooms and water fountains available at the trailhead parking lot. MEETING LOCATION: Trailhead Staging at the end of Shallmo Drive Limit 20 participants. To register, please call the Nature at (602) 506-2930 ext. 3 with your name, phone number and number of people attending. If you find you cannot attend a program after you have registered, please call the Nature Center ASAP so we may contact those on the waiting list.
