Maricopa County Parks and Recreation: Sunset Hike

Come catch an Arizona sunset on the trail with Ranger Shaun. October is one of the best times to catch sunsets in the parks! The temperature isn’t super high, and the sun goes down early enough that you can still get home in time for a decent dinner! Ranger Shaun’s walking sections of 3 different trails this afternoon hoping to end up on the Southwesterly facing section of Clay Mine trail right around sunset. If all goes as planned, or at least close enough to recognize as the plan, we’ll be walking into a beautiful Arizona sunset (not directly into, that’s terrible) the last 1/3 or so of the hike. As the colors fade away we’ll be making our way back to the Nature center. This hike will use parts of Overton, Go John, and Clay Mine trails which are rated medium, medium-difficult, and easy respectively. The sections of the trails we will be using all fall into the medium or easy category. Closed toe shoes and water bottles are required. Flashlights are strongly recommended as we could get back after dark. Sunglasses encouraged as we will be walking towards a sunset, if not directly, many people may still find it uncomfortable. Any other hiking equipment that makes you feel comfortable welcome but not required. No pets please. MEETING LOCATION: Nature Center Limit 15 participants.
